It pains me to write this review but the Watering Hole has declined significantly since I was last there several years ago. The Watering Hole used to be my gold standard for wings in Nebraska, with its char grilled flavor and good value. The flavors today are all still good- I enjoyed my wings. The grilled wings lacked a little bit of the char flavor that was there before the renovation and you could definitely taste a slight difference.
My biggest gripe was the value. I paid $18 for 2 pounds of wings, aka 10 wings. It says 5-8 wings per lb, but in the end, we paid $27 for 3 lbs, or 16 total wings. The value just is not there anymore and we left heavily disappointed.
All in all, The Watering Hole has good wings, but it's lost some of its flavor, its divey charm, and all of its value. I wouldn't go back. -

I have been here several times over the years and today likely was the last.
As a fan of wings it's hard for me to dog out most any wing. But the mess I was served today - well it was bad.
We had came to celebrate a birthday Sunday 1:30pm. Wasn't busy at all and still took well over 30 mins to get food outta the kitchen, we all ordered wings.
Selling wings by the pound is stupid! Get a consistent product FFS! I should have taken photos of the "wings" they served. They were small weird shaped (golf ball sized) pieces of chicken with bone fragments everywhere. They were all way over cooked - had we not waited that long for our food I should have sent it all back. -

I can't believe The Watering Hole only has 3 stars! Well, I can understand it but for different reasons that you might think. If you have been coming here for a while like me you might find it an affront to The Watering Hole you know and love. I know the staff hear it every single day. "How could you do this to such a beloved institution?" "When did this place become an Applebees instead of a dive bar that serves food?" "Why do you feel the need to clean the restrooms every single day?" "Where did you find so many matching chairs?" But hey, the wings are still the best in the world and a must stop whenever I'm in Nebraska.

I initially had a bad experience. Today I went in to give them another shot, which I'm glad I did. The staff was on top of their game and the food was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

First the good. The chips and salsa and the local Father Donkey beer was good. The bad was it was incredibly slow. We went in at 12:30 on a Wednesday and the place was less than half full. We ordered chips and salsa, fried pickles and a beer and it took 25 minutes to get the food. I got my beer after 10 minutes and that was after I asked the waitress for it again. When we finally got the appetizers we had to track the waitress down again to get napkins. It seemed like she was to young to deliver my beer and that the guy who finally did seemed like he was serving alcohol, cooking, and delivering food. We saw other tables that were there before us asking how long it would be because they had to get back to work. One table ate everything in less than 10 minutes to get back to work. I don't know if they were shorthanded or just terrible at service but I won't be back. Oh and the pickles were bland.
